A hand carved statue of Lord Ganesh. One of the sons of Lord Shiva. He is the Hindu god of wisdom and success, and the remover of obstacles. His elephant head has only one tusk, the other, he is said to have broken off to write the Mahabharata, one of two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India. Ganesh is the most popular Hindu deity in India. His non sectarian status means Hindus of all denominations invoke him at the beginning of prayers, important undertakings and religious ceremonies. In this carving he has a crown of cobras the symbol of his father the Lord Shiva.
This satue is 50 cm high, 20cm wide and 9cm deep.
